Two Poems by Laskiaf Amortegui

The Day Goes-out

The day goes out and the stars awake in the twilight.
The wind dances among the angry waves of the sea.
I, sitting here in solitude, watch the beach.
The day goes out and you don't arrive.
Our bonfire burns out little by little.
I lie down on the cold sand,
while my desperate soul travels to the depths of the sea, in search of you.
The day goes out and some tears blur my eyes.
Certain memories haunt me...
I don't want to be here anymore!
The day goes out...
And with it, between snatches,
the illusion of having you alive in my arms.

Spring Rebirth

Tender little paws bathe in the spring flower.
So I permeate myself in you,
the time has come to unleash life.
I sail bravely among your nectar,
you bloom majestic,
exhaling exquisite aromas on your skin.
I fall prisoner submerged in your garden, pleased,
you open up like fertile soil to give harvest,
I am a seductive labourer sowing seed.
When the new spring arrives,
you have germinated your fruit;
lost dreams and lost longings of both of us are greened,
and even more when I see that tender and splendorous smile
that makes us fall in love.
