What is Love?
Love is a floating colorful gas balloon.
The gas balloon the plasma, radiation dust of the cosmos;
The cosmos yellow, orange, multi colored rainbow;
The rainbow sweet, bitter, angry, jealous, sad, happy colors of the universe;
The universe is the beautiful creation: that is love.

Lover’s World
Thunderstorm lashes chilly angry blows.
Tumultuous sea waves and oceans growl,
Impassioned night crawlers run fast and troat;
Passionate love’s breathing dances and floats.

Wandering clouds feel misty watery eyes,
Ready to fall through dark, grey, cloudy skies;
Heartbeats travel across oceans and seas,
Lost travellers feel rhythmic motion in breeze.

Light comes shining through the depth of darkness.
Thoughts float through the rhythm of nothingness,
Silence speaks its own solitary tune
Mellow music of heart pierces the gloom.
You are the light of my heart’s home.
Looking at you I see my wondrous world.

The Sweet Thief
That thief steals into your heart.
One moment it's ecstasy,
The next, it wrenches and tears you apart;
Life seems heavenly; next it’s hell.

None can perceive when it comes,
Whom it touches or where it prods;
How it creeps in, how it crawls.
That sweet little thief, that we call love.

Brief Biography of Tasneem Hossain:
Tasneem Hossain, is a multi-lingual poet, columnist, fiction and op-ed writer, translator, educator, and trainer from Bangladesh.

Translated in ten languages, her impactful writings appear regularly in esteemed literary publications worldwide. She has been interviewed on several literary platforms and won awards for her literary contributions to world literature.

She runs an international poetry writing project and group, named Life in Lyrics. She wants to create bridges of communication for literary people around the world through this platform. She conducts workshops here to create readers and create interest for reading and writing for the younger generation. She is a member of World Writers’ Union and recognized as World’s Contemporary Writers 2024 in a couple of anthologies.
Poetry, to her, is music through words; an ever-flowing river reflecting all that surrounds us.
As an author, she tries to spread message of love, hope, mercy; and tries to create an awareness of social responsibilities and human rights.

Several of her articles and poems are utilised as teaching material in universities and academies across various countries; some have been referenced in university research papers.

Publications: ‘Grass in Green,’ ‘The Pearl Necklace,’ ‘Floating Feathers’ and ‘Split and Splice’.
A faculty of Business English at CUET, she is currently the director of two HRD organisations. CEC, Bangladesh and Cansaz Services and Distribution LLC, Canada. She is a highly regarded Business Communication Management trainer.

She worked for radio Bangladesh as a newscaster, commentary reader, interviewer and radio presenter for 10 years.

Another Sunrise, a Poem by Tasneem Hossain

I lie in bed; my heart feebly beats. 

Nurses, doctors run around 

covered in masks and shields not a moment of peace. 

Behind the closed door my beloved sleeps. 

We lay there fifteen days or more, 

covered with oxygen masks gasping to breathe. 

Now I lie here, she on the other side, 

I knocked on death's door to let me in, 

trade my place and let my beloved live. 

Deaths’ angel ignored my plea. 

She lies hanging on a cliff 

ready to fly to an unknown destiny. 

Raindrops drizzle down my cheeks, 

filled with remorse and grief. 

Cobwebs in my head like empty vessels, 

echo the drumbeats of marching bands. 

Sounds of tinnitus shrieking bells, 

screech through my ear with flames. 

The myriads of color grow hazier now: 

only pitch black and gleaming white. 

Far in the darkness, shining fireflies; 

starlit carpet from moon spreads to welcome the bride. 

Calm tranquility reigns in moonlight; 

tomorrow there will be another sunrise.

Waiting

 

You have left for the unknown,

Yet I wait alone, forlorn.

Wait for you to come back, 

Come back and say ‘I love you’

 

I hear your voice whispering in my ears,

I am always near you my dear.

Your voice comes through the rustling leaves,

Flowing through the gentle breeze;

Crashing through the lightning so loud,

Moving strongly with the thunderous clouds; 

 

In the cold wintry nights,

I see you floating lazily in the mist,

wet soft moist leaves in sight;

In the sultry summer nights,

I see you dancing among the sparkling starry lights;

Your presence in the beautiful spring I smell,

In the fragrance of the colorful flowers you dwell.

 

Your presence in nature is all around,

My love for you knows no bounds.

Sweet Little Devil Child

 

He is my sweet little devil child.

Rages and angers on every little thing,

Shouts and scolds for small little things.

Fits of panic surround him sometime,

At the end, he is my sweet little devil child.

 

His heart pure gold,

Sometimes behaves very cold.

A man has his pride and ego,

Won’t stop, to let you talk and go,

At the end, he is my sweet little devil child.

 

Some things in his life went wrong,

Made him so bitter, yet very strong;

His eyes have the power, to not let you go,

His smile makes the room shine bright and glow.

At the end, he is my sweet little devil child.

 

Ask me why I love him so.

You would do the same, if you truly know

The façade behind that angry shadow

A man betrayed so many times.

At the end, he is my sweet little devil child.

 

I know and love the pure soft heart,

of this sweet little devil of mine.

Tasneem Hossain is a multi-lingual poet from Bangladesh. She is also a fiction and op-ed writer,

Translator, educator and trainer. Her publications consist of three poetry books and an article book.

Article: Split and Splice. Four more books are underway.

 

Apart from her four authored books, more than 70 of her literary writings have been published in different magazines and dailies in the USA, Canada, UK, Singapore, Indonesia, China, Greece, India and Bangladesh. As an op-ed writer, she has written about 80+ op-eds in a span of 2.5 years. She runs a project named Life in lyrics, which is a literary network with no borders.

 

As a trainer, she has imparted training to more than 26,000 staff of different UN agencies, MNCs, Govt. and private organisations, NGOs and private companies. She also worked as newscaster, commentary reader, interviewer and radio presenter in radio Bangladesh for 10 years. She completed her Masters in English Language and Literature from Dhaka University and has been a faculty in CUET, Bangladesh.
