If by Dr. Shailesh Gupta Veer in Arabic/Translated by Taghrid Bou Merhi

...لو
هل تتزوجينني؟

If

If your beats have music of my love
If there is my glow in your face
If you have my dreams in your eyes
If there is fragrance of my love in your breaths
If your heart is in the love of my heart
If you have so sweet and soft corner for me
If you think that I am the same man-
as in your thoughts
as in your dreams
If you think that I am the same man-
With whom you want to live your entire life,
If...
Will you marry me?

THREE POEMS BY TAGHRID BOU MERHI

VALENTINE'S DAY, O FRAGRANCE OF WISHES

Valentine’s Day lives in our steps,
Like a bird singing in our veins,
Like the dawn light waking every rose
That blossomed deep within our souls.

Come, let us journey to the distant dream,
Flying like butterflies amidst flowers,
Adorning our path with love until
Life becomes melodies and celebration.

On the shoulders of clouds, we etch our love,
Leaving whispers to the winds,
Embracing our hearts whenever longing passes,
Blessing us with the purity of souls.

O heartbeat of life and every joy,
When love enters your heart,
I become like a child of tender dreams,
Hiding in your eyes my greatest wishes.

Come, let us paint life with celebration,
And sketch our madness with nostalgia.
For this day lives between us,
Renewing a love that never fades.

THE SHADOWS OF LOVE

Love passes like a fleeting breeze,
leaving its mark upon souls,
like a cloud that rains
over hearts thirsty for life.

It is the heartbeat when the chest tightens,
and the spark in eyes that meet
amid the rush of passing silence.

Love is not a promise,
nor a chain of silk,
it is the breaking of the soul
when it meets its reflection in another.

It is the distance shortened by a glance,
and the estrangement dissolved by a word.

In love,
we flee from ourselves
only to find them clearer.

We fear loss,
but we realize that love
is what remains
when everything else is gone.

VALENTINE'S NIGHT IN CANDLELIGHT

Love prepares for the night,
draping the moon in veils of light,
planting in the corners of the heart
a warm song,
scattered like stars
across the table of waiting.

Beneath the candlelight,
shadows dance upon the walls,
as if the heart's secrets
confess what words could never say.

Eyes meet in silence,
speaking more than a thousand poems,
and laughter melts
into the warmth of the moment,
as if time itself paused
to witness this beautiful madness.

On Valentine's Day,
souls blossom in love’s presence,
and the heart becomes a homeland
for songs of longing.

O Dream Thief, a Poem by Taghrid Bou Merhi

How my heart fluttered when you called,
But I did not answer; affection fades in argument.

How often you doubted, while my soul longs to be near you,
And my heart finds joy in the beauty of your love.

My heart wandered toward you, only to reap sorrow,
And I see you departing from our shared dwelling.

Did you think, my love, that I am strong enough?
The fire of passion in my heart is unbearable.

I did not arrange my feelings in love,
The heart yields when emotions are reined in.

O dream thief, I lived them through my emotions,
So that hope may thrive within me.

You neglected my longing, the warmth of my yearning,
And left me hastily to lament your coldness.

How I long, my dear, to hear the sweetness of words,
To be intoxicated by love and flirtation.

My life and my fate are hostages in your hands;
I love you, and love is a serious matter.

My hope for a joyous life is in your love,
I sought your closeness, and I haven't lost hope yet.

Come to me, I long for your embrace,
I am a woman, and without you, I am incomplete.

Two Poems by Taghrid Bou Merhi

Mazes!

He didn't leave a maze
without treading it

He would collapse exhausted
into the faces of worn-out bags!!!

He searches for land leaning on the pedestals of the noble city!!

Amidst departure, he devoured the body of sin and delved into longing..!

And since then, tears have not stopped on the cheeks of the sad owner..!

Mothers nailed to the wall of wishes pointed their fingers into the void of places..

They resemble thoughts when they glide in Mozart's music
and inhabit the dreams' breeze..!

Was this a delirium, the audacity of mazes..!?

Perhaps the alphabet will change the essence of the universe..!!

Perhaps it will donate in writing the psalms of love in the sight of creation
and the successive strikes of suppressed desires!!

No language for me!

Bury me the last scream in the coat of waiting

Remove my hand from the wrist of defiance

and grant my mouth a kiss of victory..!

IN THE MIDST OF EMPTINESS!!

There is no one around but me..

I move in a silence broken only by the tapping of a beak
Penetrating into my being in a way that time has forgotten..

I try to borrow the noise of its beats from the scenic moment of Beethoven's symphony
Without caring about the dissonance of "imaginary perfection"
In the subtle details of the thread of patience.

Memory twists time with a tragic fantasy imagination
It diminishes the deputies
Far from the deceptive corridors of decay..

When life freezes..

Let your faded convictions in a needle hole
And promise yourself back to the spontaneous moment when you could never admit love, even to yourself..!!

This love of symbolic dimensions
Left behind a lexicon of suffering
Like a taut thread in the midst of complete emptiness..!!

Just like life itself..!!

Two Poems by Taghrid Bou Merhi

Just a Story
Just a story,
I have a story with dreams that never ends...it started and stopped somewhere.

Some dreams are fantasy, others are a moment of ignition
The moment of coma condenses time and the moment becomes an eternity of joy.

When the lake of heart moves,
Life returns to the flowers
And souls become green trees.

My story wakes up every day sluggishly!

Maybe one day it will end
And the dreams will end...
Maybe it will become a book...
Or maybe it can materialize in a fantasy movie...
Maybe it will stay just a story that started and didn’t end...
Maybe...

Ten Cigarettes
Ten cigarettes are not enough to be alone with broken memories.
Everything can be traded
But no one knows that they are trading with tears all the time.

He was looking at his yellow cigarettes with envy
There were once vibrant!.
Over there she used to bite her fingers while a turquoise rosary never left her hand.

He used to see vague faces
While he soared around shadows merged with shadows.
He completed his rambling meal, and went back to what was familiar in his old life.

It has been since his seclusion, another ten cigarettes snatched by the jingle of his hand.
They gathered and piled up to strike his neck or break his back.

His memories came back to quell the pain again,
Came back to chase him like a hot fire sting.

As if he doesn’t belong to them
As if he doesn’t belong to himself
Just memories, a few cigarettes, and an illusion philosophy.

That’s it !!!
