On June 27, 2025, at Palace Medici Riccardi, in the magnificent Luca Giordano Hall - Florence (Italy), the Award Ceremony of the Second Edition of the G. Belli - F. Lami International Excellence Competition of the centuries-old Tiberina Academy took place. This year, the competition was dedicated to Danilo Dolci (June 28, 1924 - December 30, 1997), an Italian sociologist, poet, educator, and nonviolence activist.
Dolci was nicknamed the Gandhi of Sicily or the Italian Gandhi on the occasion of the centenary of his birth. During the event, many poets, writers, essayists, and renowned artists were awarded. All poets who won first place, in addition to the plaque, were awarded a certificate granting the right to publish with the publishing house G.C. L. Edizioni, as well as inclusion in Wikipoesia, an encyclopedic platform dedicated to poets. Furthermore, significant attention was given to the young people who represented the backbone of the event, demonstrating that even in this time of great turmoil there is still hope for peace through the powerful voice of writing and especially poetry.
During the event, a partnership was formalized between the Tiberina Academy and Guglielmo Marconi University, in the presence of the General Director Dr. Marco Belli.
The presidency also decided to award special prizes to three important books submitted outside of the competition: "Pathological Narcissism," "In the Horizon of Time," and "A Casanova’s Life - Ostuni." Additionally, special jury prizes were awarded to several poets, writers, and distinguished guests of honor, who added significant value to the award.
At the award ceremony, recognitions were also given to distinguished figures who have stood out in the fields of Culture, Journalism, Music, Cinema, and Education.
Among the honored guests were Damiana Natali, orchestra conductor, symphonist, composer, and pianist, as well as the well-known film actor Patrizio Pelizzi, author of the book "The Essence of a Dreamer" – published by Casa Editrice 96 Rue de-La-Fontaine Edizioni. Besides discussing the values of poetry itself, he also recited some verses from one of his poems. The event concluded with warm greetings exchanged between the guests, the contestants, and the presidency.
